WND & Wash. Times: Fed's Monitoring 'Right-wing-extremists'

Well I'd just like to take the time to say Hi! to all of our wonderful government friends that stop by from time to time to see what I'm blabbering about...

Let me be the first to extend a warm handshake to you.

WND Headline: Homeland Security on guard for 'right-wing extremists'
WASHINGTON – A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, , restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats.

The report, titled "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," dated April 7, states that "threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts."READ MORE>>>
Let me just say to all of you spooks out there that this news is very troubling to me, and I'm perplexed to why it's not troubling to you as well.

First of all, let me clear a few things up for you.

I am not a white supremacist. I believe like many 'right-wing-extremists' that we were all created in the image of God, and frankly I cringe every time someone tries to label people as anything other than human. I am a member of one race (and one race only), the HUMAN RACE.

I am not a violent anti-government group nor am I a member of any afformentioned groups.

I am not against government; although, I do feel that we have too much government. Our government is a bloated and festering wound on the side of Lady Liberty. Here in lies the problem. Liberty and Government directly oppose each other. Government wants more control and Liberty wants less control. Yes, you can have liberty and government, but it's much like walking a tight rope. A careful balance must be achieved and then maintained to assure that we stay as citizens with liberty and not subjects owned by the government.

So you're probably wondering why the 'Right-wing-extremist' title then?

My name and URL was spurred by the late great Barry Goldwater and the perception that those that support American Sovereignty, Liberty, Gun Ownership, Smaller Government, Federalism, a Right To Life, and other Constitutional Issues as "right wing extremists".

Flash: Gun control ...

In Chicago isn't succeeding in reducing crime. Who'd have thought that criminalizing weapons while not increasing arrest and conviction rates wouldn't succeed in reducing crime.

At Least 15 Dead in Weekend Violence.
Through early Monday, more than a dozen people in the city and suburbs have lost their lives in acts of violence -- shootings, stabbings, even a drowning. As of about 5 a.m. Monday, 15 people were dead and many more injured. Following is a rundown of the most serious incidents since Friday morning.
Chicago which has some of the strictest gun control regulations in the nation should be realizing that gun control cannot reduce crime in itself. Perhaps if it were combined with higher arrest and conviction rates it might reduce crime, but then again higher arrest and conviction rates would probably reduce crime even without having to disarm citizens leaving them at the mercy of their police departments.

Perhaps even better news is that the challenge of D.C.'s draconian gun laws may come to Chicago.
Those who would do away with Washington's near-total ban on handguns will tell you point-blank their next target: Chicago.

Gun-rights advocates scored a stunning success earlier this year when a three-judge panel of a federal appeals court in Washington swept aside the District of Columbia's ban on owning handguns, which had been in place since 1976. read more>>
This is great news, but the fight for freedom is not over.

Even as I type, the Veteran Disarmament Bill (deceptively named NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007) is lurking on the horizon. This bill under cover of "NICS Improvement" seeks to expand gun control legislation disbarring many of our faithful servicemen from legal gun ownership. The Military Organization of the Purple Heart had it right when they said,"For the first time the legislation, if enacted, would statutorily impose a lifetime gun ban on battle-scarred veterans." The GOA puts it this way, "Proponents of the bill argue that this bill gives veterans a mechanism for getting their names off of the prohibited person list. That's like giving a mugger access to your home, but then stating you can hire a lawyer and pay THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of dollars to eventually (maybe) get your stolen items back." Perhaps even more nefarious is the fact that if this passes and is enacted into law we can be assured that the standard of sanity will be a sliding scale decided by our elected officials and media talking heads as evidenced by Presidential hopeful Joe Biden and Jodi Foster.
"I don't know that he's mentally qualified to own that gun." -- Democrat Presidential candidate Joe Biden, insulting a YouTube viewer during a debate after the man referred to his semi-auto as his "baby" (July 25, 2007). "I'm being serious!"--YouTube Video
"Isn't it possible that we all have that bit of insanity in us? That's why I'm for gun control.... I don't really believe that a human being who feels [things] should have the option [that is, access to a gun] at their fingertips." -- Actress Jodie Foster, quoted in a Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence press release (August 20, 2007).
Taken from GOA's Alert: And then there [are] the studies which will be, no doubt, used by liberal anti-gunners to strip away the gun rights from more and more law-abiding citizens, using the pretext that a shrink's diagnosis proves these people shouldn't own guns:
  • "A quarter of the Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans treated with US government-funded health care have been diagnosed with a mental disorder, according to a study published Monday." -- AFP news (March 12, 2007)
  • "The number of American children and adolescents treated for bipolar disorder increased 40-fold from 1994 to 2003, researchers report today in the most comprehensive study of the controversial diagnosis. Experts say the number has almost certainly risen further since 2003." -- New York Times (September 4, 2007)

Even before the studies started rolling in, gun haters were already working the legal loopholes as best they could. When the Veterans Administration got caught adding veterans' names into the NICS system during the Clinton presidency, they defended their actions by saying it was "required by law" -- a statement which was just flat out false.

I cannot close this any better than what The Gun Owners of America said, "Over two hundred years ago, Patrick Henry warned about the "chains" that were being forged to enslave them. If he were here today, would he not warn us again?"

Get involved! Call; Write; Email; and Visit your Congressmen (especially if they're one of the sponsors) and Senators and urge them that we don't need more gun control.

We especially don't need gun control that takes America's Finest, men and women who bleed patriotism for our sake, and urinates on them by seeking to strip those rights they and others fought and died to protect.

U.S. Most armed country in the world

From Reuters

GENEVA (Reuters) - The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.

U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.

About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said

"There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said.

This is great news, but unfortunately 9/10 people in the U.S. aren't gun friendly patriots.

Harvard study confirms More guns = Less Crime

Once again American Universities are playing catch up with common sense, but it's still refreshing to see studies that confirm what we already knew.

From: CFIF.ORG

Very simply, the ability of law-abiding citizens to possess firearms has helped reduce violent crime in America.

Now, a Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy study shows that this is not just an American phenomenon. According to the study, worldwide gun ownership rates do not correlate with higher murder or suicide rates. In fact, many nations with high gun ownership have significantly lower murder and suicide rates.

In their piece entitled Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder and Suicide? A Review of International and some Domestic Evidence, Don B. Kates and Gary Mauser eviscerate "the mantra that more guns mean more deaths and that fewer guns, therefore, mean fewer deaths." In so doing, the authors provide fascinating historical insight into astronomical murder rates in the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and they dispel the myths that widespread gun ownership is somehow unique to the United States or that America suffers from the developed world's highest murder rate.

It's great to hear this coming from Harvard Law. I'd recommend printing it out, reading it, highlighting a few passages and slip it in a catalog envelope with a letter and send it off to your Congressmen and Senators explaining that this is one of the many reasons why you support less restrictions on gun ownership.

You can find a copy of the study at Harvard Law: PDF (best to Save and read) and you can also find it at law.bepress.com
